GRASP Scholarship Helps Abiud Get Textbooks and Supplies for Studies

“The scholarship may seem modest, but it makes a significant difference. It helps cover the cost of textbooks and supplies, which allows me to focus more on my studies. It also signifies recognition of my academic achievements, which is incredibly motivating.”

The (GRASP) Scholarship from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) helps Nyamongo Abiud support his studies in biotechnology and climate change and cover essential educational expenses, including textbooks and supplies at Africa University.
“The scholarship may seem modest, but it makes a significant difference,” said Abiud. “It helps cover the cost of textbooks and supplies, which allows me to focus more on my studies. It also signifies recognition of my academic achievements, which is incredibly motivating.”
Abiud believes higher education plays a crucial role in personal and professional growth. “Colleges and universities provide a structured environment for learning, expanding knowledge, and honing critical thinking skills,” he said. “They also offer networking and mentorship opportunities, which are essential for personal development and preparing for future endeavors.”
At Africa University, Abiud is not only focused on his studies but is also involved in several leadership roles within his community. He serves as a youth leader in his local church, organizing and facilitating activities aimed at the spiritual growth of young members. Additionally, he is the class representative for AU-CLAFLIN students at Africa University, where he advocates for his peers’ interests and fosters a supportive academic environment.
“I’m also involved in my church’s choir,” Abiud said. “Helping organize musical performances for our congregation is one way I contribute to the spiritual experience of our community.”
The scholarship means more to Abiud than just financial support. “It’s a vote of confidence in my abilities and a recognition of my dedication to my studies,” he said. “It not only relieves some of the financial burden but also opens doors for future opportunities.”

To be people of Easter, resurrected people, is to live outside of fear. No threat of violence – physical, emotional, or otherwise – can compromise our sense of right and wrong. Life is not dependent on the whims of those who persecute us. Our life is built on the love of God. This is the message of Easter. As we live with this certainty, we will be people of the Resurrection.
