ATLANTA — Morgan Cebrun, a student at Xavier University in New Orleans, is one step closer to her dream of becoming a pediatric physician assistant, thanks to a scholarship from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM). The award eases the financial strain of college and empowers her to stay focused on her rigorous academic path of biology and pre-med.

“For me, this scholarship is more than just financial support — it’s a vote of confidence in my future,” Cebrun said. “It allows me to concentrate on my studies and clinical preparation without constantly worrying about tuition.”

Balancing coursework with her long-term goal of serving children in underserved communities, the GBHEM scholarship is a bridge between aspiration and achievement. Her passion for pediatric care is rooted in a desire to make health care more accessible and compassionate.

“I’ve always wanted to work with kids,” she said. “Being a physician assistant means I can be hands-on in their care, advocate for their needs, and build trust with families.”

The scholarship, part of GBHEM’s commitment to supporting United Methodist students in higher education, reflects its mission to nurture future leaders in service and faith. For Cebrun, it reminds her that she is not walking this journey alone.

“This support means everything,” she said. “It’s helping me stay on track, stay motivated and stay hopeful.”
