GBHEM Scholarship Confirms Calling for Seminary Student at Drew University
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For Priscille Hassa Malandji, a Master of Divinity student at Drew University Theological School, receiving a 2025-2026 General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) scholarship has been more than financial relief — it’s a confirmation of her calling.
“This generous support will greatly ease the financial challenges of my education,” Malandji said. “It allows me to focus fully on my academic, personal and spiritual growth.”
Malandji is pursuing her degree with a vision to serve in pastoral leadership. Her ministry plan includes guiding congregations through prayer meetings, counseling, retreats and outreach programs. She hopes to inspire worship beyond Sunday services and advocate for social justice at district and conference levels.
“The scholarship affirms my vocational calling,” she said. “It strengthens my conviction that I am on the path God has set for me.”
Malandji’s church, located near campus, plays a vital role in supporting students. It operates a food pantry and distributes winter essentials like coats and gloves. These efforts, she said, reflect God’s love in action and foster a sense of community.
“I envision a ministry characterized by compassion and inclusivity, where every individual is cared for, acknowledged and appreciated,” she said.
Her academic journey is rooted in a desire to deepen her understanding of Methodist theology and scripture, while gaining practical skills in preaching, teaching and church administration.
