“This scholarship has not only alleviated the financial burden of my education, but it has also allowed me to focus more on my academic pursuits without the added stress of financial constraints.”
— Paulo Bussane, Africa University
Thanks to a International Grants and Scholarship Program (GRASP) scholarship, Paulo Bussane, a student at Africa University, is better positioned to deepen his theological studies and contribute to his church and community.
“This scholarship has not only alleviated the financial burden of my education, but it has also allowed me to focus more on my academic pursuits without the added stress of financial constraints,” Bussane said. “The support has connected me with a network of like-minded individuals and mentors, which has enriched my experience both academically and spiritually.”
The scholarship, part of The United Methodist Church’s support for international students, allows him to attend a Methodist-related institution where he can grow spiritually and academically. “It is a profound honor and a pivotal moment in my academic journey,” Bussane said. “This scholarship means the opportunity to pursue my dreams without the burden of financial constraints, which is truly empowering.”
At Africa University, Bussane is deeply involved in campus life, participating in leadership programs, clubs, and organizations that prepare him for future service in the church. He is a member of the Christian Fellowship Club, where he engages in Bible studies and community service projects. He also serves in the Student Government Association, where he works on decision-making and event planning.
“These experiences are shaping me as a leader and helping me develop essential skills for ministry,” Bussane said. “I’m committed to making the most of this opportunity to excel and contribute positively to society.”
For Bussane, receiving this scholarship is more than just financial assistance; it is a recognition of his dedication and potential. “It’s a vote of confidence in my ability to make a difference,” he said.
