Thank you for your grace as our team worked days and evenings the past few weeks to solve the issues that were identified when the data was received.
TUESDAY, MAY 24
Passage UMC has officially launched. Invites were sent via email. Please visit https://www.gbhem.org/passageumc/ and click on Resources or Support if you have any questions.
MONDAY, MAY 23 MORNING UPDATE
Passage UMC launches May 24!
THURSDAY, MAY 5, AFTERNOON UPDATE
Passage UMC will arrive the week of May 16. Keep your eyes on your Inbox for details.
THURSDAY, APRIL 28, MORNING UPDATE
We want to express our sincere gratitude for the patience and grace you have given us in this transition. It has been a journey to overcome the obstacles of where this data started and where we have it now. The data is now clean, properly structured, and loaded into Passage. The final phase is moving over 259,000 documents. As you might imagine from our update yesterday, that many files from multiple locations takes days to move. With that in mind, we want to let you know we will announce our launch date on Tuesday, May 3.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27, AFTERNOON UPDATE
We are still working on moving documents from fourteen different locations into Passage. Some of you may be hearing from us directly, as your conference’s documents are in one of the different locations. In fact, ten of the fourteen locations are maintained in the annual conferences, which means we will need access to those documents.
TUESDAY, APRIL 26, AFTERNOON UPDATE
Documents and Quality Assurance are all that remain to reach launch. Both of these are in process, so we are hoping to share a launch date with everyone soon. While the setbacks with the migration plan have been a heavy burden, we are excited to be so close to bringing you the full power of Passage UMC.
MONDAY, APRIL 25, AFTERNOON UPDATE
We are down to the last of the data migration. The “attached documents” are next up on the list. While that is being completed, the platform is being tested agains the data that has been migrated to date. We’re getting close….
THURSDAY, APRIL 21, EVENING UPDATE
It was another good day. Our data set is very close to being complete. We should see how the historical data looks in the new app in the next 24 hours. This represents the final step before we can start the full QA, which is the last step before launch…stay tuned.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, AFTERNOON UPDATE
We are down to fixing some of the genuinely unusual data that we received from UMCares and into Passage. The data is very messy and is tedious. Work will continues into each evening, and we will keep updating. We do not yet have a new launch date though we can see that there is a finish line…
MONDAY, APRIL 18, AFTERNOON UPDATE
The new data migration specialist has been outstanding and the team cleaned a lot of data over the weekend. Data will begin going into the staging platform Tuesday for quality assurance testing. There are several steps left to go, but we are running downhill now.
THURSDAY, APRIL 15, AFTERNOON UPDATE
All good news today! We met with our new data partner and got them up to speed on where we are in the data migration journey. Already, we feel they understand the issues we have been facing with the data we received and are ready to jump right in to straighten things out.
We will continue our updates on Monday.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, EVENING UPDATE
The Unfortunate News:
We will not be launching Passage UMC this Friday, April 15 as we had hoped. The platform itself is ready but we are still resolving issues with the data received from GCFA.
The Good News:
We released the prior software specialist from the project and brought in a new team to do the data transformations. We now anticipate the process of fixing and transferring the data to accelerate. We expect to have a new launch date available in the coming days and will communicate to you when it is determined.
You can continue view updates and track our progress by clicking here, and the link is accessible at UMCares.org as well.
In the midst of our shared work this week, we collectively lean our hearts and minds toward Jerusalem. We are so grateful for our common work and common faith and pray your Holy Week is a blessed one.
Thank you for your grace as the team works towards a successful launch.
TUESDAY, APRIL 12 EVENING UPDATE
We made good progress on Tuesday. We have instituted a plan, plus a backup plan, that we believe will help get us to the finish line. We reviewed some of the transformation plans, which clarified where we could apply corrections to the most significant effect. There are still hurdles in getting the data to where it needs to be, but the path is solidifying.
MONDAY, APRIL 11, EVENING UPDATE
Today was a rough day. The data received from UMCares is challenging to say the least, so in anticipation we hired a data transformation consultant at the end of 2021 to help normalize, map the data to the new schema, and run scripts to insert the data. Unfortunately, that consultant has not been able to perform at the level we need. As a result, tracks, steps, and forms remain the pain point. We are working through a backup plan and continue to demand that everything is in Passage UMC correctly before we launch. We do not have a new Passage UMC launch date yet.
We thank you for your grace as we address these unforeseen circumstances.
FRIDAY, APRIL 8 UPDATE:
Regrettably, Passage UMC did not launch on April 5 as anticipated.
While the platform itself is ready, the data migration from UMCares to Passage UMC is not. Since receiving the data from GCFA we have been working around the clock to resolve this issue.
This is frustrating for us as well. Launching Passage UMC before the data issues are resolved would break our promise to launch only when the integrity of the data is certain so that you can enjoy the new Passage UMC and not fret about deficient and fragmented data.
The updated plan is:
- Work to resolve the data issues by end of day Friday, April 8.
- Maintain UMCares.org as a “read only” site so that you can see information but unfortunately you will not be able to work within the platform. The reason why the platform will be “frozen” is because any work done in UMCares will create two separate warehouses of data which will compound the issues, and result in a need for you to backtrack your inputting of data once Passage UMC launches.
- Assuming the data issues are resolved by end of day April 8, we will immediately undergo testing, configurations and quality assurance with a new anticipated launch target date of Friday, April 15.
- We will communicate an update to you on Tuesday, April 12. Live updates can be found via this link where we will post information as it becomes known. You can also find the link at UMCares.org.
In the meantime, training materials can be viewed here so that your team can be fully prepared when Passage UMC launches.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. We
