Higher education is a significant part of our United Methodist heritage, our present task, and our future responsibility. The Division of Higher Education represents The United Methodist Church in its relationships with educational institutions and collegiate ministries. The division has an advisory and consultative relationship to all United Methodist-affiliated institutions— including universities, colleges, secondary and special schools, Wesley Foundations and other collegiate ministries, conference boards, and similar organizations.
Through the denomination’s Black College Fund, The United Methodist Church supports the largest number of Historically Black Colleges and Universities of any church body in the United States.
The Division of Higher Education develops policies and practices that enable The United Methodist Church to engage effectively in higher education and collegiate ministry throughout the world.
