The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of The United Methodist Church (UMC) joins congregations and communities around the globe in honoring the 25th Anniversary of the Order of Deacon in the UMC. Established in 1996, deacons are called to the ministry of serving those on the margins of society, to witness to the Word in their words and actions, and to embody and lead the community’s service in the world for the sake of enacting God’s compassion and justice.
The 25th Anniversary of the Order of Deacon celebration is a collaboration of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, the Deacon Order Chairs Planning Group and GBHEM. Included in the festivities are three events and a service of worship during April 2021. All events will be held virtually via Zoom.
Please unite with your fellow deacons and other celebrants in this joyous occasion. To register for any or all of the four events, visit the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary page and click on the button.
We hope to see you there!
