Today, more than 1,700 endorsed United Methodist clergy are taking their ministry beyond church doors and answering God’s call as chaplains and pastoral counselors. The United Methodist Endorsing Agency (UMEA) has the responsibility to recruit, endorse and support these clergy to serve in extension ministries across the globe. Chaplains and pastoral counselors are needed in a wide range of settings, and our clergy can be found serving everywhere from military and police department settings to hospitals and women’s shelters.
