TRANSITION WORKSHOP 

With Rev. Dr. David C. Johnson

This workshop will explore the spiritual, emotional, familial, financial, and ecclesial issues facing members of the endorsed community who are planning to retire, have recently retired, or are experiencing a significant workplace/setting change.

The Rev. Dr. David C. Johnson, BCC, is the Director of the Spiritual Care Department at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) in Charlotte, NC.  He has over 40 years of experience in ministry the last 30 years as a chaplain, Clinical Pastoral Education supervisor, pastoral counselor and administrator.  He is a graduate of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and The Graduate Theological Foundation.   David is ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church, a member of the South Georgia Conference and endorsed by United Methodist Endorsing Agency.  An Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) since 1994 he has served on the Board of Directors from 2002 until 2012 first as the Chair of the Professional Ethics Commission and as President.  David was certified by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) as a supervisor in 1985.  He has served in many leadership positions including President of the ACPE from 2013 - 2015.  Professionally he supervises students enrolled in the educational program at CMC.  He has served as an Ethics Consultant with the hospital ethics committee for 20 years and was a member of the Institutional Review Board for 16 years.  He is married, the father of two children and the grandfather of five children.

This event will be in Nashville, August 22-24. For those eligible to attend, the entire cost for this workshop (including travel, billeting and food for you and your spouse are covered by UMEA.
