Gammon Seminary
March 21, 2010

At its March 9, 2010 Spring Meeting, the Board of Trustees of Gammon Theological Seminary chose not to elect The Rev. Dr. Walter H. McKelvey for another one-year term as President-Dean.

Effective March 15, 2010, at the request of the Board of Trustees, Bishop Alfred L. Norris (Retired Bishop of The United Methodist Church and former President-Dean of Gammon prior to his election as bishop) has assumed the position of Interim President-Dean for Gammon Theological Seminary.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees has authorized a Search Committee to guide the search process for a new President-Dean.

Gammon Theological Seminary was founded in 1883 by The Methodist Episcopal Church. Gammon is The United Methodist component of a consortium of six historical African-American theological schools in the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, GA.

Gammon/ITC is a world-class, professional graduate school of theology with many outstanding graduates. It offers faith-based solutions to the spiritual and socioeconomic challenges confronting faith communities, especially for African-American communities.

Gammon has enjoyed an illustrious history and the Board of Trustees is poised to embrace the future filled with challenge and hope.
