Research and Evaluation

Welcome to the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry’s Office of Research and Evaluation. The resources on this page are a result of our drive to create research that is both rigorous and creative with the purpose of understanding how different factors impact the mission of The United Methodist Church. Through collaboration, we monitor these factors so we can educate and equip leaders of the UMC to improve programming and adjust activities to address the needs of clergy and lay constituents. Our methods are theoretically grounded in order to deliver academically minded materials that will place agency and the church at the forefront of religious and education research. Most importantly, we hope you recognize the joy we take in our work and it inspires you to seek research supported solutions to the issues facing religious leaders.
