Internship: Eco-spirituality experience at Holy Wisdom Monastery
Benedictine Women of Madison offers an eco-spirituality experience for single women between the ages of 20 and 50. Volunteers spend anywhere from two weeks to two months living in community at Holy Wisdom Monastery, located near Madison, Wisconsin. The grounds include a 10,000-year old glacial lake, wooded nature trails, native prairie and beautiful gardens. Volunteers work about four hours each day, spend time with the community in prayer and at meals, deepen their spiritual awareness through guided reflection and conversation, and take time for themselves as well.

The timeframe for this experience is June 18-July 13, 2012. The minimum stay is two weeks, and you can apply for up to a four week stay. Room and meals are provided.

There is no application deadline - each application is processed as it is received; up to ten interns will be accepted.


Scholarship: David W. Self Scholarship
Requirements are that the applicant must be a United Methodist youth that has been active in his/her local church for at least one year prior to application, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, admitted to a full-time degree program in an accredited college/university, pursuing a “church-related” career, maintained at least a “C” average throughout high school, and be able to establish financial need.


Scholarship: Richard S. Smith Scholarship
Designated for racial/ethnic minority youth only. Additional requirements are that the applicant must be a United Methodist youth that has been active in his/her local church for at least one year prior to application, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, admitted to a full-time degree program in an accredited college/university, pursuing a “church-related” career, maintained at least a “C” average throughout high school, and be able to establish financial need.


Scholarships: American University Methodist Tuition Remission
As a courtesy to the Churches associated with the Pan-Methodist Commission, American University offers 50% United Methodist Ministerial Tuition Remission scholarship to dependent children of clergy under appointment and serving full-time in the following churches:
  • United Methodist
  • African Methodist Episcopal
  • African Methodist Episcopal Zion
  • Christian Methodist Episcopal
  • Union American Methodist Episcopal
The scholarship program is limited to 16 students, 4 for each class and therefore must be necessarily competitive. The application deadline is rolling and awards are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Volunteer: Summer Mission Trip to Wisconsin
The Epworth League, a Methodist association for young adults, is promoting a summer mission trip to Wisconsin from August 4th to the 13th, 2012.

The Christian Disciple Farm provides an enhanced vacation Bible school day camp for children & young adults with special needs and their families in an outdoor farm environment. A wide variety of activities, education, crafts, worship, entertainment and music will work together to bring the camp theme to life.

As a volunteer, you will be enabling the campers to learn more about Christ and grow in their faith while you experience God’s presence in a new and exciting way. Many volunteer opportunities exist requiring various commitment and skill levels. The cost for this project is $125 and is located 35 miles west of Milwaukee Wisconsin, USA.
