Fred Heather Fund

The Fred Heather Fund has been established by the Heather family and the DOM/UMEA to assist:

• endorsed persons seeking to complete requirements for professional certification, engage in advanced training appropriate to their endorsed setting, or enroll in ACPE Supervisory CPE training toward certification as an ACPE Supervisor.
• persons preparing to meet requirements for endorsement to gain certification and training in areas of specialized ministry.

Award amounts

• Professional certification/advanced training
• ACPE Supervisor training

(Scholarships are determined by financial need, cost and availability of funds)

Requirements

• You must be a member of The United Methodist Church who is ordained in full connection, a provisional member, licensed local pastor, or a certified candidate in seminary.
• Endorsed currently or potentially endorsed by DOM/UMEA.
• Requesting financial assistance to pursue supervisory in training status, professional certification, or advanced training appropriate to your ministry setting (e.g. military chaplain candidate, APC, ACPE.)

Process

• Apply online through the GBHEM Loans and Scholarship website www.gbhem.org/scholarshipapplication
• Complete the application and requested essays and electronically file by March 1st
• Your CPE supervisor will be asked to complete and return a Verification of Enrollment form
• Applications and verification forms will be reviewed by the scholarship committee
• Decisions on scholarship awards will be sent in July of each year

Application Deadlines:

• Applications open from January 1 – March 1 each year
• Applications for ALL Scholarship Programs must be completed by midnight of March 1 for consideration
• Notification of committee results will be sent via email to all applicants by July 31
