On behalf of the staff and directors of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, I want to welcome you to our redesigned Web site. We hope it offers you the kind of helpful information, resources, and connections that will assist you and your church with your important work and ministries.
The mission of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry is to lead and serve The United Methodist Church in the recruitment, preparation, nurture, education, and support of Christian leaders – lay and clergy – for the work of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. United Methodist local churches are a vital link in identifying and developing leaders who will guide the church and the world. Those leaders might be sitting in your pews, attending Sunday school or youth group, or Bible study right now. The key challenge facing The United Methodist Church today is the kind and quality of our leadership. It is not hyperbole to say that leadership is a fundamental and vital need for every congregation in the connection. Here you will find information about ordained and licensed ministry, loans and scholarships, our 13 United Methodist schools of theology, our 109 United Methodist-related schools, colleges, and universities; the Black College Fund, the Ministerial Education Fund, Africa University, and many more programs that can provide guidance and resources in developing new leaders and supporting and nurturing the leaders we have. Our vision at the Board is a new generation of Christian leaders who commit boldly to Jesus Christ and are characterized by intellectual excellence, moral integrity, spiritual courage, and holiness of heart and life. I invite you to join with us in making this vision a reality for our church. Grace and shalom, |
