Elsie Lisbeth Quintanilla and José Marino Chacón represent the future of the emerging Methodist Church in El Salvador. They share a deep commitment to the formation of a new generation of women and men who would “spread scriptural holiness” in the finest Wesleyan tradition throughout their homeland.

The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry’s Division of Ordained Ministry provided the necessary funds for this husband-and-wife team to attend the Hispanic Course of Studies at Garrett-Theological Seminary. Responding to a great need for the training and equipping of Methodist Church leaders in El Salvador, they have instituted a training program for persons who have responded to their call to ministry.

Forced to deal with a lack of resources to respond to the increasing demands for clergy and lay training, Elsie Quintanilla and José Chacón duplicate the materials from each of their study sessions to train Methodist leaders in El Salvador.
