Michael Nausner, the son of an Austrian father and a Swedish mother, grew up in Austria in a parsonage where Swedish, German, and English were spoken. His call to be a United Methodist pastor reflects his and the church’s commitment to recognizing the value and importance of different cultures, different languages, and different ways of thinking.

Michael was trained at the Methodist Theological Seminary in Reutlingen, Germany, and subsequently, at the Theological Faculty, Uppsala University in Sweden. He was involved in the work of the World Christian Student Federation.

He has served as a pastor in Uppsala and the editor of Svenska Sandebudet, the magazine of The United Methodist Church in Sweden. In 1998, Michael began his Ph.D. work at United Methodist-related Drew University and was awarded Dempster Graduate Fellowships in 2000 and 2001. He recently accepted a position at the Methodist Theological Seminary in Reutlingen.
