Glen Sears came to The United Methodist Church as a high school student who was invited to the United Methodist Youth Fellowship at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Olathe, Kansas. He was later chosen to serve on the annual conference UMYF.

Through his ministry experience in the Wesley Foundation at Johnson County Community College, Glen attended the Student Forum, and was elected to the United Methodist Student Movement Steering Committee. He represented the organization on the Council for Ecumenical Student Christian Ministry, which included student and staff representatives from six denominations. In 2000, Glen was elected as the student co-chairperson of the group.

In 2001, Glen traveled to the Holy Land. He wrote about the trip for the 2003 issue of Orientation magazine. Today, he is preparing for graduate school, possibly as a seminarian or a student in the social sciences.
