Strengthen campus ministry and enhance The United Methodist Church’s commitment to campus ministry.

Strategic Objectives:

  • Energize annual conferences to deepen their commitment to campus ministry.
  • Undergird quality training for campus ministers and chaplains.
  • Resource campus ministry through Internet-based communication, publications, and other media.
  • Create models for evaluating campus ministry units and develop a set of best practices.
  • Galvanize campus ministry as a place of vocational discernment for young adults.

Strategic Outcomes:

  • Resources (print, electronic, Web-based) will be effectively used to facilitate theological reflection on ministry in higher education.
  • Annual conferences will become proficient in planning, evaluating, and fundraising for their campus ministries.
  • There will be an increased level of competence among practitioners in the profession.
  • As a repository of resources for ministry in higher education, GBHEM will develop and disseminate information to those involved in campus ministry.
  • Campus ministers will be prepared to support young people in vocational discernment and the call to ministry.
