Zimmerman once said, “All our distinctions are accidental.” On first thought, if that were true it would seem that any claim about the supervision of ministry being distinctive might be unimportant. That is, it might be interesting to identify and describe that distinctiveness whenever it occurs; but if it is not predictable its usefulness for the practice of supervision would seem to be limited.
