Session 1: DOM Associate General Secretary Greeting
Description: Recorded in August 2012, this was the welcome and overview of the BOM Ministry as presented by Gwen Purushotham, Associate General Secretary for the Division of Ordained Ministry at the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM).


 



Session 2: BOM Responsibilities & Organization
Recorded in August 2012, this session focuses on how the Board of Ministry at each annual conference is organized, the different committees that make up each board, and new legislation regarding the officers and board membership. Disciplinary Definition: Each annual conference at the first session following General Conference shall elect for a term of four years a board of ordained ministry (BOM). This board shall be directly amenable to the annual conference... The annual conference council on finance and administration shall recommend adequate administrative funds for the board and its staff in light of its workload. Session 3: Registrars Session
Recorded in August 2012, this session outlines the overall work of the registrars and provides a basic overview of the Online Candidacy Application System (OCAS). Disciplinary Definition: The board of ordained ministry shall elect a registrar and such associate registrars as it may determine; one such associate registrar to be given responsibility for candidacy, including giving leadership to the training and guidance of mentors in each district. A staff executive may be named by the board to fulfill the functions of registrar. Session 4: Legislation Highlights Session
Recorded in August 2012, this session reviews some of the legislation that affects the Boards of Ministry that was passed at the 2012 General Conference of the UMC. Presented by Anita Wood, Director of Provisional Membership and Deacon Ministry Development at the Division of Ordained Ministry at the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM).
